What is the True Value of a Business Plan?

It's time to get down to business, that is, the business of writing your Business Plan. You know
the basics involved, but putting your knowledge on paper can prove slightly daunting. It is a
crucial document to your business, one that goes beyond helping you attain funding. It will aid
you in achieving your big picture goals for the company.   A good business plan helps you
allocate resources properly, handle unforeseen complications, and make the right decisions. Let
this plan be the map leading to your success. The overriding goal of your Business Plan is to
prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that you can successfully produce and build a company
around your product/service and, more importantly, that a large number of people will in fact buy
it.

The business plan should have clearly outlined sections that deliver information and goals in an
organized and informative manner. These individual sections will answer a specific question
pertaining to your business.

As you research and prepare these sections of your business plan, you'll find the weak spots in
your business idea that you'll be able to repair. You will also discover different areas with
potential you may not have thought about before-and ways to profit from them. Only by putting
together a thorough business plan can you decide whether your great idea is really worth your
time and investment in the long run.  Ultimately, ventures are only as credible as the people
involved.  Firmly establish your credibility and believability, and build the audience's confidence
in you and your team as a group of professionals.

At Dyer Consulting Group, too many times we have seen entrepreneurs tackle the development
of a Business Plan as a homework assignment.  They just wanted to get it done and turn it in,
and didn't understand the reason they are doing the plan in the first place.  The real value in
preparing your business plan is not the beautifully bound document that you are so proud of...
The real value is in the
process of creating it!

Good Luck!
Self Motivation and Your Goals

Setting goals is extremely important because they serve as a focal point for all that we
do.   But, we must have the right amount of self-motivation to achieve these goals.  Here
are four things to think about and you understand the importance of self-motivation and
goal achievement.

1. Our motivation can only come from inside ourselves. Why? Because motivation is an
internal force that drives individuals to act in order to achieve a specific goal. People
might read the same book, or listen to the same inspirational speaker but respond
differently. One person might feel motivated to act, the other might not.

2.You must have a big enough 'reason why' in order to feel motivated. Your reason why
must provide a 'meaningful motive'. It can be useful to look for a reason that's bigger
than yourself. For example, you may want to earn enough money to take care of your
family - not just yourself. So, dig deep into the truth of what you want. This is why it's so
important to choose goals to which you feel 100% committed.

3. You need to believe that your goal is attainable. Either that or your fear must be so
great that you will try anyway. Without this fear or belief, self motivation is difficult to
maintain. Given that you probably don't want to live with feelings of dread, let's take a
look at belief. You can start by looking for evidence within yourself that you can achieve
your goal. You can then back this up by seeking support, mentors and role-models,
either directly or indirectly through books and audios.

4. Your environment is an influence on motivation. That's a key reason why you need to
choose your friends and colleagues carefully. This doesn't have to mean saying
goodbye to the people you know now. But consider whether it would be helpful to make
new contacts.

Quote - "You can achieve anything you want in life if you have the courage to dream it,
the intelligence to make a realistic plan, and the will to see that plan through to the end."

To your Business Success!
